An outdoor development of the Tree Alphabet

The aerial photo (taken by Kate Neville of shows the north end of Roamers Wood, soon after being planted with trees in the spring of 2023, with its circle of thirteen mounds, each mound representing a consonant. Closer in to the circle (below) shows the initial test of the display boards, and the mounds being planted with wild flowers.

The display boards

These new display boards for the Alphabet are in development (each 800 x 400 mm or 2' 8" x 1' 4") and awaiting sponsorship for their installation (click to see them in a gallery)

The intention

The hope is to create a series of angled stands, on which the displays can be pinned and we intend to add sound, so the poems can be heard in gaelic in this outdoor setting.
